Customers who are looking to buy life insurance should consider the prices they are charged before buying it from advisors. Financial advisors and mortgage advisors both usually offer life insurance as part of their services and they are both right in saying that it’s an essential form of cover.

They are also usually paid commission by the life insurance provider to sell you life insurance products, money which is usually added to the overall cost of your policy in some way. Changes to the way financial advisors are allowed to charge for their services will make these costs far more transparent from the end of the year, but until then it’s important you are aware that the price you are quoted through an advisor could be inflated because of the cost of the advice you receive.

Instead you could look at buying your life insurance online, making the decision about which life insurance policy you should buy yourself. With no advisor fees added to the products, life insurance purchased online is generally cheaper, and at websites like ours you are able to compare life insurance prices from a range of different providers, before clicking through to the insurance providers website to buy the life insurance product you choose.

You won’t find any advice about which products to buy, but what you will find is an easy to use website, and loads of information on the different types of life insurance. Once you’ve read the information you can make an informed decision about which the best form of life insurance for you is, and you can then use our comparison quote tool to search life insurance companies for policies of that type.

By reading the information and making an educated decision yourself you are able to cut out the middle man that is your advisor, and save yourself money in the process.

You’ll also know that you’re being offered the cheapest prices, as you’ll have them all on the screen in front of you as you look at them.

Certain subjects in life can have a bit of a taboo feeling around them. They are difficult to bring up in conversation, and the whole conversation after they are brought up can feel a little bit awkward, as no one knows what’s really acceptable.

One of those conversations is life insurance, and here at life insurance quotes we deal with life insurance every single day. We also see how difficult people find it to talk about life insurance, but we don’t think it should be such a difficult subject.

Death, which is essentially what we are preparing for, is something that can be unexplained, and whilst we do know for certain that everyone will die at some point, it’s very difficult, if not impossible to know when.

Life insurance has been designed to make sure those customers who lose their life before they’ve made their families financially secure for life are able to leave behind a financial contribution to make sure they can afford to pay off the mortgage, and to carry on living a similar standard of life for the rest of their lives.

It’s not a particularly taboo idea, and life insurance is one of the most important insurance policies offered. It’s also an insurance policy which is relevant to nearly every adult in the country, so when bringing up the subject, there’s a fair chance that every other adult in the room will have had some experience of buying life insurance, or will have considered life insurance at some point.

One of the best ways to bring life insurance into a conversation is to mention life insurance quotes. Here at life insurance quotes we allow customers to compare life insurance quotes from the largest life insurance providers, all in one place, saving the customer money by comparing, and by buying directly from the providers, without the need for mortgage or financial advisors and the inflation in prices because of the fees they charge.

Here at life insurance quotes we get asked questions all the time on the phone, by email and through the post. Where we can we try to answer as many questions as we can directly, and when we get a common question we like to answer it here on our blog.

One of the most common questions we’ve been asked lately is why life insurance starts to cost more as customers get older.

The answer is very simple really. Statistics. Whilst life insurance may not seem like a simply matter to many people, and the factors involved in death can be hugely complicated and varied, the only way insurance companies can easily offer life insurance without spending hours doing advanced medicals and running risk assessments on your entire life is to work out their prices based on statistics.

They will look at the number of people on their books from the last few decades who have died, and at what point in their life they’ve died, how they’ve died, and what sort of job they may have had.

When you then apply for life insurance they’ll give you a price based on the likelihood of your dying. They’ll assess that likelihood based on the statistics of people in the same age range, job type, and until December, sex as you, and price your policy accordingly.

The reason life insurance is cheaper for customers who are younger is because they are statistically less likely to die in the first few years of their policy, and by the end of their policy they will have paid more in premiums because they’ll have been paying for their life insurance over a longer period of time.

There are many other elements to life insurance pricing, and each insurer will look at different categories, with some even offering different pricing based on your geographic location and the life expectancy in those areas.

By buying life insurance online at life insurance quotes, you can at least save some money by comparing life insurance prices from the biggest providers online, and by buying directly from the providers without the inflated fees charged when mortgage and financial advisors are involved.

When planning a family there are so many different things you’ll need to consider. There are many financial implications, as well as practical ones, and each will hold a different level of significance for each different family.

One of the most important elements to consider when planning a family is the protection levels you choose for your family, in particular your life insurance if anything goes wrong. Life insurance provides customers with an insurance policy which will pay out a lump sum payment to the family of the customer, in the case of the customers death, and is a great way of making sure your family are looked after if the worst happens.

Many people have life insurance cover which provides enough money to pay off their mortgage, as well as covering their families cost of living. As you plan to have children, you’ll realise the cost of living will start to increase, and whilst initially the cost doesn’t increase much, as nappies and milk are cheap, as your children get older, they will start to cost more and more money.

Life insurance provides your family, and your new children with financial security if you are no longer around to provide for them, and it’s vital when having another child to review the level of life insurance you already have, and the cost of that policy at the same time.

One of the easiest ways to review the cost of your life insurance, and to amend the level of cover you have is through life insurance quotes, where you can log onto our website and obtain a quote from the biggest life insurance providers in the UK, comparing costs in one place.

If the quotes are cheaper than your current cover, which online they invariably are you can simply click directly through to the providers website to take out the cover, and to make sure that the protection side of your family planning is well and truly looked after.

A new customer survey has revealed the growing level of expats who are taking a risk by not having any life insurance or income protection. Many move abroad without any cover at all, taking a huge risk in the process.

When you travel abroad you are no longer covered by the NHS, so many expats accept that they must take out international private medical cover to make sure they are covered for any medical work they may need.

Remarkably that understanding doesn’t stretch to their protection insurances, like life insurance and income protection insurance.

The survey, carried out by insurance provider William Russell revealed that 61.4% of those questioned revealed that they didn’t have any life insurance, or income protection insurance with any provider, whilst 5.7% more weren’t sure what levels of cover they had.

That leaves just a third who knew for certain that they had adequate protection insurance in place, a shockingly low number.

Despite being so badly prepared when it comes to buying life insurance and income protection cover, amazingly 70% revealed that they had international health insurance in place, and 7.4% were unsure if they had health insurance, showing that the expats are aware of the need of health insurance, but not well educated when it comes to life insurance.

Sales director at William Russell, James Cooper explained, ‘although we are pleased to see that a high number of expats are making provision against the risk of needing expensive medical treatment whilst they’re abroad, it is worrying to see how many are not making financial provision in the event of their untimely death, or an illness or accident that would prevent them from working,’

‘International Life insurance protection is available and can prove invaluable to families struggling to cope with bereavement. Also, with advances in medicine meaning that more people are living for longer with a serious illness or injury, the need for income protection insurance is now just as significant as the need for life insurance cover,’ he added.

Life insurance is one of the most important forms of insurance you can buy, and can make a huge difference to the financial security of the people a customer leaves behind if they were to lose their life. Here at lifeinsurancequotes.co.uk you can compare different life insurance quotes, and save money in the process.

When you buy a new home, you’ll often be asked to discuss your protection options at the same time. Those include your critical insurance policies, like life insurance, critical illness insurance and income protection. Whilst some people will avoid discussions about what could happen, the majority of homeowners will face up to the potential for disaster to strike, and look to protect against it.

When you buy a home, you are often buying the single most expensive thing you’ll ever buy in your life. Whilst the cost to build a home from scratch is often far less than the actual price you pay, you’re also paying for the land the home is built on, and the fact planning permission has been granted in the past, and that the home has now been built.

When you make such an expensive purchase, it’s only natural to insure it, which is why many people buy home insurance, looking after their home if the worst happens. Home insurance won’t protect your home if the worst happens to you however.

With most people buying their homes with the help of a home loan, or a mortgage, keeping your home relies on you making your mortgage repayments every month. Failure to keep up mortgage repayments can lead to you losing your home, so it’s important to make sure you’ll always be able to make your repayments.

If you were to lose your life, you’d obviously stop earning an income from your job, and that’s where life insurance can protect your home. Your life insurance policy will leave your family a lump sum payment, which they can use to carry on paying your mortgage repayments, or to simply pay off your mortgage completely.

With critical illness insurance protecting against you getting ill and no longer being able to earn money, and income protection protecting you against losing your job, you can use critical insurance policies to protect your home, financially, and in a way that home insurance does not.

Life insurance is one of the critical insurance policies for a reason, and is one of the most important types of insurance you can buy. Unlike many forms of insurance, you buy life insurance to protect your family, as it only starts to benefit after you’ve died. Whilst some people may ask why insurance is important after they’ve lost their life, the truth is the consequences for their families and loved ones could be severe.

One of the most popular questions we are asked is what will happen to a customer’s family if they don’t have life insurance, and there are numerous potential consequences.

Life insurance policies provide customers family and loved ones with a lump sum payment in the event of the customer’s death, and can provide a financial lifeline to a family, who will often lose a large proportion or all of their income when one of the parents in a family dies.

One of the biggest financial responsibilities most families have is paying for the home they live in, through either their mortgage, or paying their rent. Many families find that their mortgage or rent is their single largest outgoing. Without a life insurance policy many families would no longer be able to afford to pay their rent or mortgage, falling into arrears and eventually having their home repossessed, leaving them homeless.

A life insurance policy can leave the family with enough money to pay off their mortgage in full, or to pay to buy a home for those renting.

Not having a life insurance policy in place can lead to other financial difficulties, including paying for school trips, household bills, holidays and clothes. These financial difficulties can have a huge affect on both your partner and your children, and can leave them stressed and depressed.

By taking out life insurance you can leave your family in a financially secure position, and with one less thing to worry about at such a difficult time in their lives.

A new survey released by Aviva has shown the most popular benefits offered by employers to their employees, with life insurance forming part of the top five.

Here at life insurance quotes we constantly tell people how important it is to have life insurance of some form so it’s very pleasing to see life insurance offered as a benefit to some people, although there are many who don’t get the benefit and will have to arrange their own cover.

Many employers choose to offer their staff benefits in addition to their pay, buying the benefit in bulk and offering it to their employees, saving them money in the process. The new report from Aviva has highlighted the most common benefits offered, and revealed that 39% of employers recognised the importance of such benefits to staff.

Upon revealing the findings of the first Aviva Savings Engagement in Employment Index from Aviva, managing director of corporate benefits, Graham Boffey explained, “Companies are increasingly going to need to find relevant and compelling ways to talk to their employees about their savings and benefits options.”

He added, “and as more people start to use the workplace for managing their money, practical planning tools and clear guidance will be essential. Employers willing to put in the time and effort will find themselves in a win-win situation.”

The report revealed that 36% of companies offered their staff an annual bonus, whilst 16% offered their staff a pension. The number offered a pension could increase by next year with new government legislation changing the way workplaces offer pensions.

15% get health insurance, whilst 14% are offered life insurance, and other discounts, like gym membership, childcare vouchers and an onsite crèche.

The life insurance offered to staff can also be called death in service cover, and typically covers three to four times the employee’s salary. Whilst the cover is fantastic, it’s often not enough for all your life insurance needs so it’s vital to top up your cover with a quote from life insurance quotes, giving you the added cover you need.

The sales equality between male and females buying life insurance looks set to end in the next few years, despite research from one life insurance provider showing that they had sold roughly the same number of policies to female members of the population as they had to male members.

LifeSearch, who provide life insurance for customers in the UK have revealed in an increase in their life insurance figures over the last five years, but it’s their data they have released regarding the people who have taken out the policies which really makes for interesting reading.

According to the data released by LifeSearch, which has been analysed by lifeinsurancequotes.co.uk, 20,800 men bought life insurance cover in 2011, whilst 19,589 women did, almost the same levels.

The 2011 levels show almost symmetry between the people buying cover, yet it’s not always been that way. In further data released by the company, it was revealed that since their inception in 1998, 175,000 men had bought life insurance through the company, whilst only 158,000 women had.

A report released in the latest edition of Health Insurance magazine revealed that LifeSearch had seen an increase of 55% in the last five years, of customers organising their life insurance through the firm, showing the growth of importance in life insurance over that time.

In 2006 the company organised just 26,000 policies each year, whilst last year they organised over 40,000.

Managing Director of the firm, David Child explained, “The figures show that there is very little difference between the sexes when it comes to financially protecting themselves and their dependents.

Whilst sales are currently roughly the same, it’s expected that a spike in the number of sales of life insurance for women could come into affect before the December deadline, after which life insurance companies will have to abide by the new EU gender directive.

The changes will prevent them from charging women less for life insurance, even though they are statistically less likely to die. The changes will see the cost of women’s premiums likely rise, and could see a drop in the number of female life insurance customers going into next year

Here at lifeinsurancequotes.co.uk we’ve always tried to make the reasons for getting life insurance as simple as possible. We understand that some people currently look at life insurance as a waste of money. We also understand that for some people life insurance is a cost they are considering doing without, because of their financial situation.

We do however want to make sure you understand the risks you take, and the risks on behalf of your children that you take when you don’t have life insurance. Simply put, life insurance provides a customer’s family with a lump sum payment in the event of the customer’s death. Customers generally take out life insurance during the term during which they are paying off their mortgage and are still financially responsible for their children.

If you were to die with your mortgage half paid off, and two children under the age of ten, your family will receive a huge lump sum payment which can be used to pay off the mortgage, guaranteeing the family somewhere to live, and to provide enough money to bring up the children in one of their parents absence.

Think about the costs your partner will face trying to bring up your children without your income to help them. Who will pay the mortgage? If your partners salary covers the mortgage, who will pay the household bills, and pay for the children’s school clothes?

Think about the cost of swimming lessons, scout camps, holidays and all the other school trips and activities your children may want to do. Add to that the cost of university and you’ll start to realise the importance of leaving money behind if you can’t be around to provide for your family financially.

Life insurance provides total peace of mind, and is hugely important to anyone wanting to look after their family. Protection insurance may seem unimportant, and something you can live without, but if the worst happens, it’s something your family could not cope without.
